Because of a morbid fascination with childish artwork? It's highly illogical, when I earned my 40s there was a set method to reaching a 40, you had to have put out high quality games and a high quality support for years on end before you could achieve the 40 and you know something, by just handing out 40/40s everywhere these days all they have done to continue to damage their reputation, they are after all, a Japanese magazine first and foremost and I say, stick to manga. I have spoken to Nintendo devs in Japan, which I have met, and you know something? All their best devs, in my opinion, were all classically trained in the Western method, they are devs who learned from the great open world games, not from the previous Nintendo titles. What I don't like however is when I buy a Nintendo game, high quality title, supposedly fine gaming and I play, I am seated on my couch and the tutorial there is explaining the game I am about to play, how to beat it, why it is supposed to be amazing, no choice just his however many level 'experience' and spending more time trying to sell me on their game than having me play it. That's not engaging... that's not gaming. In my opinion, the game should speak for itself, the customer should have the choice in how they wish to play and I like player agency, who doesn't? Video games should be simplified not a big song and dance. Good entertainment. Done right. It's that easy. Nothing upsets me more than having a tutorial presented so pretty but the gameplay... bland. And you know something? Let's stop with this fun business. Fun, what does it mean? Engaging, are we going to pretend the Japanese invented good fun? Really? People have been playing games for thousands of years and couldn't explain the effect until the Japanese told them what it was? Nonsense.
