>Russians using the Chinese made Shennong Shield 3000 laser system to take down small drones in Ukraine.

>This does NOT violate China’s neutrality, because these are agricultural machines, used in China to take out pests and trim really tall trees.

>The name Shennong means divine farmer, he’s the god of agriculture in Chinese mythology.

201 / 27One Million Suicide Drones with Chinese CharacteristicsMany readers will be familiar with the PLA Rocket Force (PLARF) and their A2AD capabilities. These remain a serious threat to an adversary in the Western Pacific. However, massed OWA attacks could add an entirely new dimension to the counter-intervention campaign capabilities. The cost difference between OWA drones and other PLARF munitions means that OWA could be employed at a staggering scale.

Should the United States and its allies and partners, hereafter referred to as the Allies, intervene in a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, China would need to disrupt the Allied action across the entire FIC. Distributed OWA fires across the FIC could challenge the Allies' ability to maneuver and contest a Taiwan invasion. The map below shows notional launch areas and target areas for the OWA component of a Joint Firepower Strike.

64 / 7Why didn't HKs guns dominate in the cold war and late coldwar/post cold war era? The MP5 was popular, the G3 was cheaper than the FAL and hk style guns were popular with special forces because they worked with short barrels and suppressors when M16s and FALs wouldn't. why didn't 5.56 HK guns get adopted en masse during the 70s, 80s and 90s? most guns adopted during that time period were just ar-18 clones, including the g36. now it's just AR-15 clones an piston AR-15 clones

34 / 10China’s 6th Generation Stealth Fighters Both Appear At Secretive Test Base>e now have the first known commercial satellite imagery of the two Chinese sixth-generation stealth fighter designs that emerged nearly a year ago. The aircraft, which are commonly referred to now as the J-36 and the J-XDS, have been spotted in separate images not at their home airfields where they were built, but at a secretive airbase with a massive runway situated near the Lop Nur nuclear test site in northwestern China.
>The J-36, readily identifiable by its large modified delta planform and ‘splinter’ camouflage paint scheme, is seen outside the main hangar at the facility’s central apron in an archived satellite image taken on August 27, which The War Zone obtained from Planet Labs. The J-XDS is seen in another Planet Labs image of the airfield taken on September 13. Previously, the J-36 and J-XDS have only been definitively spotted flying in and out of the main airfields associated with their respective manufacturers, Chengdu and Shenyang. This particular base near Lop Nur, which has been linked to work on reusable space planes, is also now undergoing a major expansion. It notably already has a runway over 16,400 feet long, or more than 3 miles in total length, making it one of the longest anywhere in the world.

36 / 15DP-27 magazine reassemblyFor the esoteric knower autists in here, what is the *correct* method of putting these back together?
I eventually managed to do it by

>securing the spring into the hub of the bottom disc, then hooking the spring to the pin in the top disc
>rotating the top 360° to tension the spring
>very awkwardly separating the top and bottom halves, and carefully rotating the top half further so that the dummy round (the one that serves to feed the last round into the action) is carried across the feed funnel gap, and rests in its position at the start of the column

THAT is where it would go wrong 99% of the time - when I separated the halves, the spring would unhook and fuck my fingers up, and I'd have to restart the whole process.
I was thinking this CAN'T be the correct process, and I could not for the love of God get the last mag reassembled, so to do finally do it I would eventually

>completely remove the dummy round and its retaining screw
>apply 360° of tension and a little bit more
>fumble with the dummy until I could reinsert it, its retaining screw and the leather straps used to rotate the top disc, all while holding the (tensioned) discs in place

I have the DP-27 manual and I've (unsuccessfully) scoured the Internet for any info on maintaining these mags, and I am honestly at a loss because there is no way the process is really this convoluted, considering these machine guns were handed to IQ 75 steppe children, so I'm curious as to what the official method is.
Timestamp for the slide thread schizo.

What Iran has to do: restore it back ask much as they can to the stock F-14.

Then charged people some $$$$$$ to fly at the back seat of the F-14.

I bet a lot of people would be willing to go there, and fly inside the F-14 at least once.

Yep you read that right we have developed a 3 position trigger for the PS90 platform. We are 97% completed with it just making a few fine tuning adjustments and a little bit more R&D with it before we will feel comfortable releasing it out in the world. We planned on having their release on the same day as a surprise but after thinking it through we think it would be wise to hold off on the release just until we get our bearings straight with the Vector launch. Not too much at one time. After all we are only 2 people doing it all by ourselves other than the manufacturing. \

>$90-$120 for full drop-in kit

>most are 3 position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is fully semi-automic

How it works:
https://youtu.be/KIxsnh2fFTo

To make an AR-15 super safe you'll need:
>M16 style/"full auto" bolt carrier group
>H3 or H2 buffer weight (will do 600-750 rpm of 5.56)
>"low shelf" lower receiver
>SS
>any AR trigger so long as you give it an SS cut

17 / 4What guns would an undercover witch hunter use?So, I'm currently writing a novel about a witch hunter going deep undercover as a witch, and using guns to make up for her abysmal magic power (she can use magic but she has very low MP so to speak). So, since I have little technical knowledge, what guns would she be more likely to use? Her budget is basically infinite (she works for a witch hunting organization) and she can store them in a dimensional pocket, but she has only cursory training in firearms, so easy to use, low maintenance guns would be better. Also she would probably need multiple guns for multiple situations (sniping, anti-armor, CqC, covert ops, etc) in order to cover for the different types of witches she would hunt.

It wasn't Sig Sauer's fault but somehow this was the issue that killed the M18. Also air force personnel seem to be a uniquely stupid breed of people.

98 / 18Did the US choose the F-22 on purpose, just to fool other countries.Everybody else copied the F-22, and not the YF-23.

I guess that was what the US airforce had in mind when they got the F-22, they saved the YF-23 design for later. Because it was way too advanced.

From what I've read, everything the YF-22 could do, the YF-23 could do better.
Better stealth, better supercruise, better payload, same maneuverability even without thurst vector.

South Korea, Turkey, EU, China. Everybody got inspired by the F-22, none of them got a single thing from the YF-23.

Now the US can just pull the F-23 out of their sleeves and say "HA, THIS ONE WAS BETTER ALL ALONG!"

1762150330370927.jpg
34 / 4Design flaw? Why did they make the sleeve the "bullet" of the mechanism? It seems counterintuitive.

The sleeve does not have a solid base, so it's less efficient to be pushed against by the explosive vs the solid rod component, it weighed more meaning more explosive force was required to accelerate it, it requires a heavier and larger diameter tube(barrel) for the same firing performance, it requires the target end to be aligned more meticulous, a potential failure point in the case of internal damage, whereas having the cylinder be the target could be better supported and stay concentric, the larger mass also makes it more likely to fizzle or predetonate as for the same size of all other components it should be easier to send the rod faster to get it closer before criticality.

I know that implosion has its advantages but it seems like even a first time around for the gun type they could've done better.

3 / 0It's pretty funny that the marines were the ones who wanted to adopt the M16A2, but now the 36 yard marine zero for M4s is actually basically a copy of the short aperture zero for the M16A1.
Both the M16A1 and the 36 yard M4 zero are nominally 250 meter zeros where the peak of the bullet travel is 3.5 inches over the sights, the bullet crosses the far zero somewhere around 270 yards and then is 3.5 inches low at 300 yards.
if you try doing the 25/300 meter zero the army uses (which it looks like not every army unit uses it based on one thing I read) you get like a 7 inch peak in the zero. so going to the 36 yard zero you're reducing your highest point by 50%

255 / 53Navigating global gun control for the curious, the threada.k.a. euro central.
This is a thread meant for discussion of draconian gun control practices seen all over the world and overcoming them.

No one /pol/ cares about guns and discussing technicalities with them proved rather funny, they claim you can EASILY make industrial grade brass forming machinery and make ammo casings.

Now, on topic: the question of regulating self-loading and repeating arms comes down to the ammo.
It is evidently true that it is impossible to restrict primitive single shot weapons and primitive repeating arms (primitive repeating arms being cap and ball revolvers and revolving rifles, absolutely possible to do since it's viable to make caps at home from thin metal)
But it is more than enough to ban the ammo casings to restrict the availability of self-loading weapons, because you need conventional ammo.
We are assuming a worst case scenario where the state actually does their job, the black market is nonexistent and filled with feds. Basically, it's impossible for the average man to get a hold of ammo casings.

I myself am Russian and have a ton of spent ammo casings sitting on my table right now. I have also successfully reloaded spent primers and reprimed those casings proving that it is viable, if a bit time consuming to make near factory grade ammo at home. I'm a bit afraid to link the exact compounds, but I believe people here already know them, I for example used the WW1 (the corrosive one), it worked well.
But what if I was in Brazil? In brazil, ammo casings are regulated, blank guns (easily converted to fire live ammo) and blank ammo is banned too, and while it's true the crime is high and you can get a gun via black market, let's assume the state works. Actually, Japan is a great example: ammo casings are regulated, hence the assassin used an electrically primed double barrel pistol.
CONT.

From what I understand based on that arfcom thread with one of the guys from the committee it was intended to be used with the A1 tritium front sight night sight, but the night sights were never issued en mass. it also seems odd that the A1 had a night sight option and some contemporary foreign rifles like the galil and famas have night sights and so much of the falklands war and desert storm had night fighting that they never issued night sights for the A2. granted, this of course gets mooted the second illuminated optics get issued en mass
