8 / 1Why didn't the army just buy more MK-17's and issue those?I think we all know by now the choice to make the sig spear our new standard weapon is retarded. But with their line of thought and reasoning, why not just issue everyone the SCAR-H? Yeah issuing it to everyone would be a bitch on logistics, but it makes more sense than making a new rifle and caliber altogether, because either way it's gonna be a mess issuing them to everyone.

The SCAR is battle proven, reliable, highly modular, and fits literally all of the criteria set for the sig spear but better. Because we already have a fuck ton of 762 NATO

Better yet, just field it to SOF only.

16 / 6Trauma FAKs for the Tactical LoadoutWhat are some good companies that sell quality Trauma First Aid Kits (FAKS) and some good Individual FAKS. I know two good companies:
>My Medic
>Refuge Medical
Individual IFAKs are not designed for mass casualty trauma care, but instead for one individual. The larger kits, however, can treat multiple people who are wounded by a gunshot. Multiple tourniquets will be required, preferably ones with a windless rod clip. An IFAK is a good addition to your tactical kit when you are shooting rounds down range or when SHTF. It is also a good addition to have when you are hiking or out hunting. If you have medical experience, and have the drive to save lives, I do recommend some mass casualty kits that can be found online. In the event of an active shooting, the first objective is to neutralize the shooter, if he’s still alive or surrenders without getting shot, restrain him. Apply first aid to the belligerent and await First responders to come to the scene. They will take the injured shooter to the Hospital where he will be treated for gunshot wounds. When he is discharged into police custody, he will go to jail to await his trial for shooting up a place, which will, in the future, be considered another act of domestic terrorism.
When you get your IFAK, learn its contents and if necessary, modify it with your own additions. Learned the MARCHE algorithm and learn how to treat gunshot victims with care under fire. Learn TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care). There are dummies that can be purchased for the use of practicing field medical care. Trauma FAKS are an essential item to purchase, and it is up to you, the armed citizen, to find the right TFAK/IFAK that works for you.

I love old school gun nerd shit that isn't fuddlore or myth. Accurate technical discussions and scenes in movies on firearms of the time, seems to be a rarity in films but it does occur. I found an archive of some kind of gun newspaper/magazine from the late 1800s a few years ago that had lots of 1800s /k/ talk that wasn't just a exaggerated shakespearean sales pitch like most gun literature from the time. For the life of me I can't remember what it was called. Fascinating stuff learning about gun nerdery of the late 1800s

They've started up a chapter in Austin and other places as well as taking full advantage of that school voucher system to set up christian schools as fronts (imago dei in alamogordo by holloman afb for example). Anyone that was ever in will tell you there's nothing suspicious about for profit scam schools by bases but it was almost always reserved for day cares (the ones on bases opened up at around 7 or 8 which was obviously not going to work for a military schedule so there was always one off base that opened up at like 5 that charged exorbitant amounts of money because they knew they were going to get it as a result of that) or some "university of maryland online university college" bullshit money making scheme since the only reason anyone ever went to one of them was because having a degree or some sort automatically gave you a few bonus points on your enlisted performance reports. K-12 though is something new though and I can guarantee there's a pipeline back to that cult in redding somehow.

holloman is also a hardcore glowie base

56 / 11The Iraqi Ambush America Never Talks About>Background:
>The video first sets the stage with Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait in August 1990, which led to the formation of a massive US-led coalition. The coalition launched a devastating air campaign against Iraq in January 1991, quickly crippling the Iraqi Air Force by destroying communication hubs, ground control stations, and aircraft on the ground. In a desperate move, Saddam ordered his surviving pilots to fly their jets to neighboring Iran for safety. To counter this, the US established an aerial blockade, a "virtual wall" of F-15 Eagle fighter patrols, along the Iraqi-Iranian border.
>The Battle:
>Saddam Hussein devised a plan to break through this blockade using his most capable interceptor, the aging but incredibly fast Soviet-made MiG-25 Foxbat. The plan was to lure a pair of American F-15s into a pincer ambush.
>The Combatants: Two Iraqi MiG-25s engaged two US Air Force F-15C Eagles.
>The Engagement: The Iraqi jets were vectored to intercept the American patrol. The F-15s, alerted by an AWACS plane, turned to engage. During the ensuing dogfight, an Iraqi MiG-25 fired an R-40 missile that detonated near one of the F-15s, causing significant damage to its left engine.
>Challenges: The American pilots faced multiple missile malfunctions, with several of their AIM-7 Sparrow missiles failing to launch or track properly.
>Outcome: Despite the F-15s' technological superiority, both Iraqi MiG-25s managed to disengage and return to base safely. The damaged F-15 also made it back. Although the Iraqis claimed a victory for damaging a superior fighter and surviving, this marked the last significant air-to-air combat for the Iraqi Air Force in the war. The battle highlighted how even an outdated aircraft, with the right strategy and a bit of luck, could challenge a much more advanced opponent.
The MiG-25's were no joke, had they been equipped with lookdown radars like the MiG-31's, those Eagles would have bitten the dust: https://youtu.be/5RtwFbSeV5Y?t=292

74 / 6F-16V $3.8 Billion Contract Signed By Poland>The Polish Ministry of Defense has signed a $3.8 billion contract to upgrade the country’s 48 F-16C/D Block 52+ Viper fighters to the F-16V configuration. Poland’s Block 52+ jets are already some of the most advanced F-16s in Europe. This is the latest example of a staggering Polish defense spending spree that has now been going on for years, as the country works to modernize its entire armed forces, with a particular eye toward meeting threats from Russia.

79 / 17The atomic bomb is finished exactly one year earlierLet's assume that the Einstein–Szilard letter is sent in August, 1938 instead of August, 1939. As a result, work on the atomic bomb project starts a year prior to the start of World War II. Let's also assume that work on the Manhattan Project and WWII as a whole otherwise proceed exactly as they originally did. The Trinity Test goes off without a hitch shortly after D-Day and by August, 1944, Little Boy and Fat Man are ready for use against Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan.

Where and how should the Allies employ the first atomic bombs in this scenario? Drop one on Berlin in an attempt to decapitate the leadership of the Third Reich? Use it in direct support of the Allies' breakout from Normandy? Drop it on an unsuspecting Japanese city as the opening act of the air campaign against the Home Islands? Or use the two bombs in separate theatres to hit show the Axis Powers the length of America's reach?

36 / 11With F-5s being retired by RoCAF and RoKAF as well as countries keeping them on storage, is it a good idea to upgrade them sensibly before giving them to Ukraine?

It's a supersonic jet capable of launching sidewinder, Amraam/Derby and paveway/JDAM, it 's cheap, definitely cheaper to run than F-16 (let alone Mirage 2000) and some F-5E version are even more advanced than whatever third hand F-16 that Ukraine got rn

167 / 145Some photos from the National Palace Museum in TaipeiWith the army museum currently not existing this would appear to be the main /k/ related museum in Taipei at the moment. It's main focus seems to be "stuff the Kuomintang brought along from the Forbidden City when they left for Taiwan", and as such what we'll be seeing here is mostly a lot of bronze and a bit of jade.

First out a bronze ge "daggeraxe", mounted for display much like it would have been mounted to a wooden pole originally: the tang passes through and then the holes are sued to lash it in place. These appear to have been mostly used as full sized polearms, though IIRC there's some old artwork of them being fitted on short poles for single handed use too. Late Western Zhou to early Spring and Autumn period (877-671 BC).

Wouldn't be far better to create a fixed point to mount the sight. And only a tiny part of the gun just enough for you to rack the gun moved. It could be something just like the lever on the AR-15.

123 / 30A question about glider troopsWere they required to be jump-qualified like their parachutist counterparts? I'm assuming that they still had to be a cut above regular infantry and receive special training on loading and unloading gliders, but they also trained in parachuting as a redundancy (i.e. a case where you might have enough planes, but not enough gliders and can press the glider troops into the role)?

Also post glider troops I guess.

You've heard of FRTs, but what's a "super safety"?
>like an FRT, but a different mechanism (the safety)
>cheaper than an FRT
>$90-$120 for full drop-in kit
>3D printable or CNC (recommend stainless/4140)
>most are 3 position cross-bolt safety
>left is safe, right is semi, middle is fully semi-automic
>Atrius now shipping the only super safety that operates like a normal AR safety selector

How it works:
https://youtu.be/KIxsnh2fFTo [Embed] [Embed]

To make an AR-15 super safe you'll need:
>M16 style/"full auto" bolt carrier group
>H3 or H2 buffer weight (will do 600-750 rpm of 5.56)
>"low shelf" lower receiver
>SS
>any AR trigger so long as you give it an SS cut

114 / 11Could Afghanistan have been won with new technology? I think so. I reckon an FPV drone squad in every FOB and PB would be the hard counter to the IED problem. Suddenly you can "patrol" day and night with drones and if you see some cunt digging in an IED the response can be instantantaneous.
That and more dogs I reckon. I was shocked to find out that for a long time, there were only 4 bomb sniffing dogs in Helmand. And not more than another 10 in the whole country. This in a country that was conservatively estimated to have 10,000 IEDs buried in it's soil at one time. That's not enough dogs. You need trained bomb sniffing dogs organic to every platoon.
Once you can solve the IED problem you can stabilise and have the breathing space to begin rooting out the corrupt governors, drug barons, the police boy-rapers and all the other shit that Afghanistan had that could never be dealt with because we were fighting the insurgency full time.
The technology to win in Afghanistan was late by a decade and it's infuriating.

10 / 0ISR and irregular enemyIn 2002, during Operation Anaconda, aerial and satellite reconnaissance failed to detect any firing positions or concentrations of enemy personnel in the Shah-i-Kot Valley until two Delta Force and one DEVGRU reconnaissance teams, commanded by Pete Blaber, went in and discovered that the entire area was filled with insurgents in concealed positions. Similarly, in 2000, after the Russians retook Grozny for the second time, they did not realize that a large portion of the city’s defenders had broken through the encirclement and linked up with even more numerous and capable units. My question is: can a regular army pull this off ?

Even if we're comparing apples to apples, subsonic 300blk is literally worse than 9mm:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnedpQ4xTIo
But 9mm isn't limited in platform like 300blk. There are a shitload of different 9mm firearms in a shitload of different packages for different needs.
>but it was actually made for longer distances!! You can change from subs to supers if you need to!!
So you can do 2 things shittily. Amazing.

It's a poor attempt to make the AR do everything. It's not even good for hunting.
